Coach Koh Dong-jin (43), who is in charge of the running and outfield defense of the Hanwha Futures team, has been at Hanwha for 20 years this year. Coach Koh Dong-jin, who graduated from Daejeon High School and was nominated by Hanwha in the 2nd 4th round in 2000 with the 32nd overall ranking, went through Sungkyunkwan University and joined Hanwha in 2004. 바카라
From 2013 to 2014, Coach Goh, who also showed leadership by serving as the captain of Hanwha, played as a player for 13 years until 2016. After his retirement as a player, he has continued to accompany Hanwha as a coach since 2017. This is my 7th year as a coach. In the meantime, he crossed all the 1st and 2nd team batting, defense, and running parts. Since 2020, he has been working hard to nurture the future as a futures coach. With his meticulous guidance and communication, he is widely trusted by the coaching staff and players.
Coach Koh Dong-jin said, “It has already been 7 years as a coach. He has tried both the 1st and 2nd divisions, but either position is fun and rewarding. The first team should pay more attention to grades, but Futures is focusing on player development and growth. He is more rewarded in the process of preparing him as a first-team player. There are a lot of young players, so we spend a lot of time together. He is commendable when he gets up to the first team and goes to the game. I am more grateful when I get in touch because I did well.”
As with any coach, Coach Ko emphasizes the basics and mindset. He said, “Technically, the basics are the most important. In any part, you have to have the basics to do it for a long time,” he said. “The rest is the player’s own effort. It takes time for you to realize and do it yourself. It’s difficult to create by others, but I’m trying to create an atmosphere where you find yourself.”
The existence of Futures coach Choi Won-ho, who listens to the opinions of coaches for each part and reflects them as much as possible, is also a great strength. Coach Ko said, “The coach has faith in the part coach. Leave the technical part to us. He points out the wrong parts while making a big frame, but he respects the coaches,” he said. “It is not a coercive atmosphere from the coach. A self-training atmosphere was created, such as the players training themselves at night.”
Although the dark period has not ended as Hanwha has been at the bottom for the last three years in a row, Koh sees a bright future in the Futures team. “Four to five years ago, the scouting team picked a lot of good players. It feels like they were carefully looked at and carefully selected. By position, there are many players with essential advantages for our team,” he said. At some point, when the team is set up and the players step up, it will become a team that other teams have difficulty with.”
Last year, Hanwha won the championship by finishing first in the Northern League with a record of 14 consecutive wins in the Futures League history. Coach Ko said, “LG was really good in the Futures League until last year. Last year, not only the opposing team but also the referees told us that our team had improved a lot. It’s not because we won first place in Futures last year, but the content of the game was clear, and I could see the players growing every day.” If we go through such a process, the day will surely come when we will become a strong team.” /waw@osen.co.kr
